Growth in Mandurah
We are living in exciting times in one of the fastest growing cities in Australia. The population in Mandurah is set to grow by 55% in the next decade, that’s an additional 30,000 people by 2016. We are currently increasing the number of new homes we are building by 17% every year to support existing demand. The ecological implications of these levels of growth could affect issues such as climate change, pollution, water quality, biodiversity and soil erosion. In Mandurah we need more innovative and sustainable ways of building and living to protect our natural assets.
In our Community Charter and Strategic Plan 2005-2008, the City of Mandurah has made a commitment to “protect and preserve our natural assets, while creating an environmentally sustainable city for future generations”. We are proud to be part of the Sustainable Mandurah Home that provides the community with a local showcase for more sustainable living and building practices. |
