Welcome to the Sustainable Mandurah Home - an initiative of the City of Mandurah.

Built in 2005, in a West-Australian first, the Sustainable Mandurah Home moves sustainable design, construction and living from the margins to the mainstream.

The Home sets a benchmark for the future of housing in the Mandurah, and metropolitan area and is the perfect venue for community members to learn more about how to reduce their environmental impact without compromising on lifestyle. It is affordable, ecologically responsible and stylish and is available to purchase alongside Ultimate Homes’ wide range of project homes.

Our Sustainable Mandurah Home Officers are experienced sustainability professionals, and will be happy to take you on a personal tour of the Home or help you with information about the Home’s sustainable design features.

How it makes a difference

Every year a home such as the Sustainable Mandurah Home could:

• Reduces greenhouse gas emmisons
• Reduce carbon dioxide pollution from coal-burning power stations by about one tonne
• Cut other pollutants produced by power stations
• Produce approximately 2,400 kWh of clean energy each year
• Save up to 44,000 litres of water every year by using the water captured in the rainwater tanks
• Reduce the amount of water needed to irrigate your garden by re-using over 100,000 litres of grey water every year
• Cut waste going to landfill
• Reduce waste by recycleing newspaper, kitchen scraps and compost

* These figures are estimates only based on a family of four living in the Home.
